Levelling Up Minister Lee Rowley MP is on the Isle of Wight today, meeting with officials at Isle of Wight council.
As reported by News OnTheWight earlier this month, Ryde is one of 55 towns that will be receiving £2m each year over the next ten years as part of the ‘Levelling Up’ programme.
Mr Rowley will be discussing this matter with council officers today.
Seely: I am sure he will be given a warm Island welcome
Isle of Wight MP, Bob Seely, said,
“I am delighted to see Levelling Up Minister Lee Rowley MP, on the Island. I am sure he will be given a warm Island welcome.
“I spoke to Lee over the weekend again about the Island’s funding settlement to help support services. Earlier this year, I persuaded the Government to look again at the Island’s finances. They are still doing so.
“I’m grateful to the Council and to IWC Chief Executive Wendy Perera that our finance expert Chris Ward has been allowed to develop the Island’s case. This has enabled all of us to present our case to the Government.”
