Many thanks to Paul Sturgess for sending through this request. He’s hoping that given our large and varied readership, that someone out there might be able to help him. Ed
I have been trying to find history for over a year now, on the green, white and green Isle of Wight flag, that has been for sale on Web sites for some time.
Not to be confused with the Blue flag which dons Carisbrooke Castle and anchors (below), I need help in finding it’s origin.
What I do know first hand, is that it is NOT American as some say, I found this out by speaking to the history museum of Isle of Wight, Virginia.
The flag is of a very old design. I hope someone can help before it is lost to a modern one. It would be sad to loose it if is part of old Isle of Wight history.
The fact is that there have been a good number sold and it is advertised around the world on the Internet.
I, and others call it the people’s flag of the Isle of Wight. So if there is anyone who can help, please get in touch by using he contact form below. [CONTACT-FORM]
