The brilliant Isle of Wight Freegle service has today put itself on Twitter and Facebook.
Originally starting as Freecycle (VB first reported on it in 2007!), the volunteer group behind it has been through a few transitions, but the basic message is the same – Don’t throw things away!
Give it away – don’t throw it
If you’ve got something you don’t want anymore, the chances are that someone else on the Island might take it off your hands for nothing. Not only are you helping someone out, but you’re not adding to the land-fill, which is in particularity short supply on the Island.
Equally, if you’re looking for something, take a look there first. There’s some pretty wild things available, as you can see from this mobile home that went up fairly recently …
On offer free to collector is a 2 bedroom mobile home, kept in good clean condition, fitted with fridge, oven and hob, all in working order. A double and a single bedroom, shower room and toilet and well fitted lounge.
Facebook and Twitter
Facebook fanatics will now be able to look through what’s available on the Island Freegle’s new FB Page. They’ve also launched their Twitter account today.
If you’re not users of Social Media, fear not, it’s still available on the Web.
