Isle of Wight grassroots organisations urged to apply for HIWCF grants

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF) is an independent charitable foundation and the largest grant maker to specialise in awarding grants across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

They specialise in identifying and supporting under-represented communities and groups who tackle entrenched social problems, particularly in low socio-economic areas.

HIWCF provides support to make strong applications with detailed online information for eligibility, grant criteria and live webinars.

Six impact themes
Their funding equips grassroots organisations with the funding they need to tackle some of the most entrenched social issues affecting communities. HIWCF aim to fund against six impact themes:

  • Poverty and Inequality: work that tackles poverty and inequality
  • Employability and Skills: work that champions employability and helps people develop the skills to succeed
  • Flourishing Communities: work that involves and connects people to local services and activities, strengthening their communities
  • Health and Wellbeing: work that improves health and wellbeing
  • Crime and Safety: work that increases safety and respect within communities
  • The Environment: initiatives that are good for you and good for the environment

Supporting the community
HIWCF can help create endowment funds, legacies and transferring an existing fund in the most secure and tax efficient way possible.

They work closely with local and national donors to provide advice and guidance on the best way to give and to find the community organisations to fit individual funding priorities.
