The Isle of Wight Volunteer Centre, in partnership with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and supported by Creative Island, is gearing up for a special event on Sunday 14th April.
Community and culture united
Dubbed the Arts and Heritage Volunteer Fair, this event aims to spotlight the remarkable contributions of the Island’s arts, museums, and heritage organisations.
It also seeks to emphasise the pivotal role played by volunteers in sustaining the vibrancy of the Island’s arts and heritage scene.
Opportunities to engage
Attendees of the Arts and Heritage Volunteer Fair will have the opportunity to gain insight into the inner workings of arts and heritage organisations.
They can immerse themselves in hands-on experiences, interacting with artefacts and even trying on historical costumes or art pieces.
Sign up to take part
Following the success of a recent event celebrating ‘Village Life and Future Sustainability’ at Mottistone Manor Gardens, arts and heritage groups are encouraged to sign up and take part by Thursday 4th April 2024.
Ciccognani: Blown away by the knowledge and passion
Sandy Ciccognani, Manager of the IW Volunteer Centre, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event.
She said,
“I am always blown away by the extent of knowledge being preserved and the passion shared for our culture by a relatively small group of people.”
Inspire new volunteers
Sandy sees the event as a platform for discovery and reminiscence, potentially inspiring new volunteers. She added,
“This event will help to showcase some of them and build connections with the wider community, and I encourage everyone to attend, whether they are coming alone or with family.”
A free event for all
Emphasising inclusivity, the Arts and Heritage Volunteer Fair is free for all attendees.
It symbolises the community’s dedication to preserving and promoting its cultural heritage through collaborative efforts and volunteerism.
