Isle of Wight households urged to fix energy tariffs before October price cap rise

Island residents are facing an increase in energy costs as the Energy Price Cap is set to rise again this October, adding approximately £60 to average annual household bills.

Island charity, The Footprint Trust is urging everyone on standard energy tariffs to take immediate action now to avoid paying unnecessary higher rates.

Why standard tariffs will cost more
For households currently on standard variable tariffs, waiting to act will lead to automatic price increases.

However, residents who lock in a fixed-rate tariff now can secure rates up to 8% lower than the current price cap, shielding themselves from the upcoming rise and securing immediate savings. (Residents already on fixed-rate tariffs will not be affected by this change).

Immediate steps for residents:

  • Lock in lower rates now: Compare energy suppliers immediately to find a fixed tariff priced below the upcoming cap.
  • Contact your provider right away: If you are already struggling with energy payments, reach out to your supplier immediately to set up an affordable, manageable repayment plan.
  • Get direct support: Contact The Footprint Trust for urgent help resolving billing disputes or implementing fast energy-saving strategies in your home.
