This in from David Goodall, the Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman for the 2015 Election. Ed
Your readers may have read with interest your articles on the candidates for May and wondered why a Councillor from Eastleigh wishes to be the Liberal Democrats candidate?
The answer is simple, the Island is the place where I grew up, from primary school age to tech college age; it’s the place I started my career, with 11 years at Plesseys in Cowes; it’s the place I met and married my wife of the past 25 years; it’s the place our boys were born; it’s the place rest of my family still live.
In short, the Island is a place I care deeply about.
Politics is not about the fight for power between party groupings; it is not about gaining power for self-interest or claiming as much as possible on expenses; it is about one thing and one thing only – helping people to have better, happier and more fulfilling lives. That is why I wish to return to the Island to put all my experiences as an Engineer, a manager and a Councillor to the benefit of Islanders.
