Isle Of Wight Mushroom Tragedy: Inquest Takes Place

Back in September 2008 VB broke the story of the tragic death of an Isle of Wight resident who had picked and eaten some mushrooms growing wild at the Botanic Gardens in Ventnor.

Isle Of Wight Mushroom Tragedy: Inquest Takes PlaceIt’s a story that once reported, swept around the world.

Today, at the Island’s Coroner’s court the circumstances were discussed in detail.

The inquest had originally opened and adjourned back in Sept 2008 (Video report).

Because of what we consider to be the wrongful actions of the Isle of Wight coroner, we’re unable to report on this story to you directly, having to rely on the Daily Mail for reporting instead.

The Daily Mail report that being concerned about the mushrooms, June ate a very small amount initially and waited for five minutes to see if they had any adverse effect.

The inquest later heard that half a cap of a death cap mushroom was enough to kill a human.

She fell gravely-ill and her aunt sadly died.

Once again VB extends their condolences to the family and friends of June.
