A set of photos by a member of our Flickr Group, Damian Haworth, made the Websites of at least two national newspapers yesterday (Monday).
Damian’s HDR shots of the derelict Atherfield Bay holiday camp drew the attention of the newspapers, where they shared 17 of his photos plus two from the archives of the holiday camp in its heyday.
“No one was more surprised than me”
Speaking to Damian about the feature, he told OnTheWight,
“I’m really surprised, and somewhat proud to have made the Daily Mail online, and The Sun online.
“I was approached a while ago by an agency wanting to try and sell the photos to various media outlets, so I gave them the go ahead.
“No one was more surprised than me when they turned up on two national newspapers Websites, thank God for a slow news day.”
New development
Development of the former holiday camp was given unanimous approval by the Isle of Wight planning committee earlier this year.
