The Isle of Wight is being promoted as a future visitor destination to tens of thousands of families at a world famous London store.
Over the weekend of 20 – 21 August, a display about the Isle of Wight will be at Hamleys where more than 40,000 people are expected to visit during the two days.
Local companies attending promotion
An interactive display will promote the Island as a family destination with information on major attractions and events on the Isle of Wight during the year, such as the forthcoming Cycling Festival in September.
The Needles Pleasure Park is also attending the event and providing coloured sands to encourage children to take part in the display. Local companies including The Priory, Park Resorts and St Helens Castle are also putting up prizes for visitors to enter a competition with three lucky families winning a week’s free accommodation, ferry travel and admission to many Island attractions.
Pushing the ‘family destination’
David Pugh, IW Council Leader said “We are very keen to promote the Island as a family destination and what better than to advertise the Isle of Wight in front of over 40,000 visitors in just a single weekend.
“The majority of visitors to the store will be families and we want them to think of the Island as a potential holiday destination when they are planning for next year. It is fantastic that we are being supported by so many local businesses during the weekend in Hamleys.”
