Bob Seely in Parliament

Isle of Wight resident launches petition, claiming MP failed to answer most emails

One Isle of Wight resident has got so fed up with no getting responses to questions he has asked the Isle of Wight MP, that he has created an online petition.

Steve Gibbs says that he has seen countless complaints on social media since Bob Seely was elected as Conservative Isle of Wight MP in 2017, about the MP not answering emails or letters.

Thrust of the petition
Steve’s petition reads:

I have emailed Bob Seely on more then a dozen times. I have only received at most three replies. My emails are always polite and about relevant important matters that my local elected representative in parliament should be able to deal with easily as part of his job.

Yet most of the time he just doesn’t. (This is in spite of the fact he has paid office staff to help him respond to the concerns of people in his constituency.)

You might be suprised to know that Bob Seely MP is bound only by an honour code as there is no law or code of conduct that makes him reply to our questions by email, phone or letter.

Gibbs: Let Bob know how we all feel
He continues,

If you too feel strongly that Bob should be accountable to the people he is paid to represent, please sign this petition and let Bob know how we all feel.

You can read the rest of Steve’s petition over on the Change.org Website.

Response from MP
News OnTheWight has asked the MP for his response to the petition and for the number of questions asked, and answered, in the last six months.

We’ll update once we hear back.
