Isle of Wight residents voice concerns over lack of local Evri drop-off points

Following calls from Island residents, Isle of Wight Conservative MP, Bob Seely, has raised the lack of drop-off and collection points for Evri parcels on the Island with the mainland-based delivery company.

Mr Seely said,

“Constituents have made me aware that whilst Evri offers delivery services on the Isle of Wight, there are no local Evri ParcelShops on the Island.

“Some shoppers are frustrated by this and, yet again, it feels like the Island has been overlooked because of our separation by sea from the mainland.”

Written a letter
Mr Seely has written to Hermes Parcelnet Ltd, which oversees the Evri parcel delivery and courier service on the Island, to ask what plans the delivery company has to increase the number of ParcelShops on the Island, and if it will consider offering services in all the Island’s major towns.

In his letter, Mr Seely said,

“As the ferry journey from the Isle of Wight to the mainland can take up to 60 minutes, it is not feasible for customers to use ParcelShop services on the mainland. As I am sure you will agree, Islanders would be keen to take advantage of local ParcelShop services.

“These include send, collect and return services; label printing services; and packageless services.

“I urge you to ensure that the Isle of Wight is not overlooked as a result of its separation by sea.”

Parcelshop applications
Mr Seely said he understood that Evri accepts applications from store owners to become a ParcelShop for their local area and has asked the delivery company to take the Island’s overall needs into account when receiving such applications from stores on the Isle of Wight.

But they collect from your house? Go on the app, chuck in all the details & the option for “courier collection” is right there. No need for a parcel shop. For those without the app, just use royal mail, they’re normally cheaper than Evri anyway.

Bob just making non-issues for a huge amount of islanders appear to be issues again right before election time, what a surprise.

Absolutely right…. Evri will collect from your house.More pointless hype trying to attract votes. Roll on the election and we can vote in Labour.

Bob just wants to be able to say he is delivering for Evri one. Sounds like he’s appointed Churchman PR to help his campaign. A bystander claimed earlier today that ( a slightly tipsy) Churchman PR founder, Councillor Churchman herself, was overhead saying ‘ I’m sho delighted to have been brought in to save Bob Seal and help with his champagne. I just need a saushage to… Read more »

Evri have done a deal with the Post Office, so they will eventually pop up all across the island.

Based on recent experience with Evri, if they do decide to open an Isle of Wight office, it’ll be late, damaged and in entirely the wrong place.

That’s not the experience for most….In 7 years, I’ve never had a problem. For sure, there are some that have had a bad experience. Same with Royal Mail etc.

Trumpeting yet another layer of cost for what should be a relatively cheap and easy procedure? What a surprise. All hail conservatism, and pass the collections box.

Genocide supporter Bob will jump onto any minor band waggon to get his face in the press . Important issues such as exporting spare parts for fighter planes and drones in Israel are glossed over as being minor distractions from the bigger picture . Try telling the dead in Palestine that the small percentage of our exports make no difference. Of course they do . If the… Read more »

Not Israeli lives, but of course that doesn’t matter to you does it. No case of genocide has been proven and the action in Gaza doesn’t meet the definition, but don’t let facts and reality get in the way of a good nasty rant. The military supplies from the UK amount to 0.02% of the total of foreign arms supplied, easily replaceable, so once again the UK’s… Read more »
