An Isle of Wight short film has been selected by a US film festival. Gallatin’s poet laureate and film jury have picked Shrink Wrap, a seven-minute Island film, for the 2026 Town Creek Film Festival in the US.
The festival takes place on 16th and 17th October 2026.
Jo Kori and Hillard Morley say,
“The film will travel beyond the Solent and the UK, representing the beauty, heritage and creativity of our Island to US audiences.”
Thirty years in the making
Hillard Morley, an award-winning published author, first wrote Shrink Wrap as prose 30 years ago.
It began as a quirky response to T.S. Eliot’s Prufrock, a lyrical moment Hillard Morley was proud of but one that stayed firmly in the past tense.
Then came Jo Kori, an award-winning visual artist, with a focused eye and expertise in composition, camera work and editing.

Together they have turned the piece into a refined, reflective work of performance art.
Filming took place at Art-House-Life studios in the historic Osborne Stable Block, with sound recorded by Island-based Calliope Studios.
Influences and ideas
Jo introduced Hillard to the photography of Francesca Woodman and the artwork of Helen Chadwick.
The pair talked through materials and texture, colour and flavour, then explored leaves and seedpods, petals and peaches. Squares and circles, arches and triangles came next.
They sat in the dust of heritage and gazed up at the Island’s open skies.
Sponsors wanted
Jo and Hillard say,
“We are currently looking for sponsors/funding to help us with the costs of converting our film to a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) which is the professional format used by projection theatres worldwide.”
And they would “love to attend the festival to represent the Isle of Wight/UK”, they say.
