Paul Knights turns footage of Alverstone Mead’s red squirrels into new film

Last updated

Paul Knights has shared his latest short film, three and a half delightful minutes of red squirrels at Alverstone Mead.

Red squirrels, and nothing else.

A seasonal film still waiting
Paul says that wasn’t the original plan. He had intended to drop just a few of the squirrel clips into a broader seasonal sequence of Island landscapes.

He said he seems to start that project around this time every year, yet never quite finishes it. He says he still hopes to get round to it one day soon.

But a closer look at the squirrel footage changed his mind, and he decided there might be just enough for a three-minute film of them alone.

Filmed across two seasons
Paul filmed the scene of a squirrel eating berries off the branches around dusk last November.

The other clips are much more recent. He filmed them in the earlier part of the day, all within the past couple of weeks, and all at Alverstone Mead.
