Isle of Wight wins Best UK Destination of the Year for second time

The Isle of Wight was named Best UK Destination of the Year for the second year running at an awards ceremony at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London, last Thursday (27th June 2024).

The category in the Group Leisure and Travel Awards saw the Island face tough competition from destinations such as London, Leicester and Leicestershire, Norwich, Wiltshire and York,

After lifting the trophy aloft in 2023, the Isle of Wight was named Best UK Destination of the Year once again in 2024, voted for by those responsible for planning successful holidays.

Myles: Great news for all
Will Myles, MD of Visit Isle of Wight, said,

“This is great news not only for Visit Isle of Wight, but for all of the Island businesses that deliver such a great service for groups, including the transport providers to, from, and on the Island.”

The Island celebrated other successes as Warner Leisure Hotels, with locations at Bembridge Coast and Norton Grange, was awarded Best Accommodation for Groups.

Summers: Thanks to everyone that voted for us
Amy Summers, Sustainable Travel, Trade and Exhibitions Manager, added,

“I’m honoured to accept this award alongside Will on behalf of the Island for a second year in a row.

“The groups market is key for the Island, and we have been working hard to enhance our promotion and meet with trade organisations to make sure the Island continues to be a first-choice destination for group travel.

“My continued thanks to the Exhibitions Partnership for supporting us with the shared vision to promote the Island, and a final thanks to everyone that voted for us.”

The annual initiative is organised by Group Leisure and Travel Magazine and voted for by readers who organise a variety of day trips, short breaks and holidays for clubs, societies, local communities, friends and family.
