I suspect that there’ll be a lot of people heading out of Ventnor tonight … the question is which gig will they be going to?
Happy Feet Productions are hosting Give Peas a Chance – bringing together London based, The Peas and Island scenesters The Chancers.
DJs Nipsy and Sparrow will be laying down some New Orleans classics through the night. Doors open 8pm tickets £6 available from the Ventnorian in Spring Hill or Bar 53 and Revolver in Ryde.
On a separate note, I love the variation of flyer designs that Happy Feet manage to knock out each time and particularly like this one – great typography!
Just around the corner at Ryde Theatre, Curious Generation present Captain (number 5 in NME chart this week), Howling Bells, Niton Wonders – The Windows, The Veils and Gareth Icke. Doors open 7.30, tickets £8 on the door. It should be an equally good night and difficult to choose between the two.
If either of those are not quite your thing, and you want to stay close to home, Christa Correia School of Dance are holding their end of term show at the Ventnor Winter Gardens … starts at 7pm, not sure of ticket price (so if anyone knows, please add a comment). Should be a lovely event for all ages … expect lots of panache and super smiley faces on stage.
UPDATE: Mista Mushroom will be performing their unique doom-calypso and death reggae at Castlehold Baptist Church, Newport. Kicks off at 7pm. Only £4 and the gig is being held to raise money for the Bulgaria mission. MM will be playing with The Lab Rats.
All proceeds go to Bulgaria and there will be a presentation after The Lab Rats on the projects out there and what exactly Josef and the Castlehold Posse actually do. Bring extra cash for food and lovely things to buy, like t-shirts and CDs.
