The Isle of Wight Council has today published its decisions about the future of the council’s ICT strategy (Computers, etc).
Taken by Cllr Barry Abraham – Cabinet Member for Residents, Resources and the Fire Service – under delegated powers, they’ve gone for Option C, approving the updated ICT Strategy as a final document that we linked to when reporting that the IW Council ICT Strategy was under review.
The main reason was given as “To provide a safe and well kept Island through supporting the provision of better information, such as the Information Observatory and Graphical Information System (GIS),” with an additional reason, “To provide a better / safer access to ICT in support of projects such as ‘Personalisation’ in respect of ‘transforming social care’.”
Having read through some of the pre-decision document, it looked like most of it was about bringing the council technology up to date, but perhaps that didn’t fit in the box provided on the decision form.
