Yesterday afternoon saw the official opening of the Touchdown Lounge at the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership’s Innovation Centre.
If you’re not familiar with the idea of a Touchdown Lounge — and with a new idea like this, why would you be? — it’s a place for business people to go along to between appointments, do work; catch up on emails; have meetings and carry out business calls.
If those using it don’t have their own PC with them, high-spec Toshiba laptops are available for use and for the first six months, BT is giving free WiFi Internet access via the OpenZone that’s operating there.
Coffee is available, as are the ever-helpful IWEP reception staff to provide a happy attitude, help and guidance to the facilities.
There’s a strong likelihood that you’ll bumping into other like-minded business people, so you can make the networking opportunities.
Tour of the offices
Those who went along to the launch yesterday also got a tour of the Innovation Centre, seeing the range of offices accommodation available.
These included the relatively new idea hotdesking which gives great flexibility for those starting a business, or making the move from working at home to their first office.
There are also offices of various sizes available enabling companies to be accommodated as they grow.
If you’re looking for modern and well turned out offices in the Newport area, it’s well worth giving them a call and arranging to pop along.
As a side note, the food at the opening was prepared by Ruth Realey and the asparagus spears (Island-sourced natch) wrapped in ham were delicious.
