It was fascinating to read about the life of Czech violinist, Jaroslav Vanecek.
The Irish Times has a great write-up about the violinist who died on the Isle of Wight last month.
According to the report, we was described as “a distinguished exponent of the Czech school of violin playing”.
Having begun his life in Bratislava, Vanecek received his first formal violin lessons at the age of 13.
The great Czech violinist, Jan Kubelik, said of Vanecek, “a rare talent that is found but once in a lifetime”.
He taught for many years in Dublin and Ulster, with his wife, also a highly accomplished violinist, before taking up a position as senior professor of violin at the Royal College of Music in London.
