JULIAN MARC STRINGLE and The Dream Band
Performing an exciting blend of blues, ballads, be-bop and Latin Jazz — an evening of funk and fusion!
Julian Marc Stringle was a child prodigy reed player. He studied clarinet with the renowned Wilf Keeley and composition with William Lloyd Webber. Captivated by the sound of Peanuts Hucko, at the age of 12 he formed ‘Young Jazz’ a teenage Dixieland band and made his TV debut with Acker Bilk. At 17 he formed a modern Jazz quartet and started touring Europe. Julian plays alto and tenor saxophones but the clarinet is his passion and he is considered by many to be the finest player on the instrument in Europe. A versatile performer/composer, Julian writes TV jingles and documentary film scores. He stars in the Digby Fairweather band that is currently touring with George Melly, but Julian is devoting the bulk of his time to recording with the Dream Band in an attempt to re-establish the sound of the clarinet in popular music.
He will joined by The Dreamband comprising Neil Angilley (keyboard), Dominic Ashworth (guitar), Chris Dodd (double bass), and Mike Bradley (drums).
