Cllr Chris Jarman, the Cabinet member for Resources and councillor for Totland and Colwell shares this latest news in relation to the Ukrainian guests living on the Island. Ed
An outstandingly successful day at the Riverside Centre with 25 Island employers with vacancies and dozens of Ukrainian guests eager to find work.
Such a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere with opportunities in manufacturing, design, education, care and hospitality.
I was pleased to hear that Wight Salads now have 30 Ukrainian workers to support their growing of our amazing Island tomatoes.
Other vacancies to be filled
Also to see those signing up for interviews to work on our Floating Bridge, Teemill, Alum Bay, care homes, holiday camps – indeed every employer enjoyed the zeal and passion to obtain work exhibited so strongly by the Ukrainians.
Legacy donation
It was also my pleasure to present a cheque to Victoria Dunford of MAD-Aid that was left last week in the estate of a family member of David Horn of Totland.
The express wish was that the donation be used to support our Ukrainian guests here on the Isle of Wight. Our condolences to Davis and his family and sincere thanks for the generous donation.
