We were as pleased as punch when we heard that Joe Duckworth – esteemed Chief Exec of the Island Council – made it be known to the Guardian at the start of November that the Island was going to become Eco Island (only slight shame was that it wasn’t an Island publication – hint, hint – that had a chance to break this important story).

We think the Eco Island concept is completely brill. Not only will it support the Island; gain extra National or possibly International press attention; but will also attract eco-thinking people to this fair Isle, possibly to live.

To continue the theme and keep it in people’s minds, Joe has an online, eco xmas card.

We’re not sure if there’s a paper equivalent that’s dropping in to letterboxes as we speak, but by using an online card, Joe’s also living the eco-lifestyle by not tearing down trees to print the cards on.

Happy Xmas to you too Joe.
