A whopping £20,496.16 has been raised in just over a week for the trust fund set up to help raise enough money for a pioneering cancer treatment for a 13 year old Islander.
After being diagnosed with primary mediastinum large B cell lymphoma a year ago, Joe Ellis has already been through radiotherapy and chemothearapy, but there’s still no sign of remission.
Pioneering treatment
Southampton Hospital have agreed to fund the first three of a pioneering cancer treatment from the US. Joe’s family need to find £100,000 for the remaining 13 treatments, just in case their funding application to the UK panel isn’t successful.
The fundraising is primarily for Joe’s treatment, but if the family’s funding application is successful or the Trust raises more than is needed, it’ll be donated to other Island children who are in the same situation.
How to help
If you would like to donate to the fund, email [email protected] and Joe’s parents will get back to you with details of the Joe Ellis trust fund account.
Joe’s father, Simon says,
“Please find it in yourselves to help out in any way you can. I thank you in advance for any assistance you can give.”
Egg or sponge a policeman
Alternatively, if you’re going to the Isle of Wight festival, look out for the rather novel fundraising efforts by the Isle of Wight police (Joe’s dad is on the force).
Please give generously to this important cause.
