On Sunday, 22nd September 2024, the Isle of Wight will host the Kidical Mass bike ride, coinciding with World Car Free Day.
The event will start at Yaverland car park (PO36 8QB) and proceed around Sandown.
Event details and participation
Families are encouraged to arrive at the Yaverland car park by 10.30am, ready for an 11am start. Organisers, Cyclewight, are urging the community to support this event by showing up and spreading the word to friends and family.
The organisers said,
“This is a fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning.”
All attendees are encouraged to wear bright colours and make noise during the ride. The aim is to demonstrate how streets can be accessible and safe for everyone, particularly children and vulnerable road users.
Please note that under-16s must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
Fundraising for Insurance
To ensure the event is safe and enjoyable for all, the Kidical Mass organisation is seeking financial support for insurance costs.
A committee has already made a contribution of £50 towards this effort.
Those interested in supporting this initiative can make a donation to the Kidical Mass Crowdfunder.
Get involved and make a difference
The Kidical Mass bike ride is a great opportunity for the community to come together and advocate for safer, more inclusive streets.
By participating in this event, you can help promote a vision of our streets where everyone, regardless of age or ability, can feel safe and welcome.
