Keeping things totally local in Ryde: Support your independent retailers

Ryde’s independent shops and businesses are once again joining in with the National Totally Locally Fiver Fest Campaign, running from 2nd – 16th July.

Joining over 100 towns across the UK, over 30 Ryde based businesses are coming together to highlight the contribution they make to our community by offering special deals to their customers.

The Fiver Fest message is simple, spend little and often at independent businesses to make a real difference to your high street. If every adult in the Ryde area spent just £5 per week over £6 million would be going directly back into the local economy.

“Being part of the Ryde community has been important”
Newly opened Susa Plant Based Kitchen are one of the businesses taking part,

“Becoming a new business owner has had its excitement and challenges, but being part of the Ryde community has been important.

“The importance of shopping local and supporting independent is vital. Fiver Fest is an amazing way to promote this.”

Her Whey: Join the quiet revolution on waste
And it’s not just food deals on offer – zero waste store Her Whey on Cross Street, has opted for a number of Fiver Fest deals.

Owner Annie says,

“We are proud to be part of Ryde’s small independent businesses. Shopping locally has never been more important and helps support our wonderful town.

“Take advantage of our Fiver Fest offers and you will be joining the quiet revolution on waste.”

Thompson: Make that small effort to shop local first where possible
Zoe Thompson, Ryde Business Association Chair explains,

“It would be easy to think that businesses have ‘bounced back’ from the two years of disruption, but it is a slow process, so we are appealing to our community to keep small local businesses in mind.

“We have been involved in the Fiver Fest campaigns for six years now, because we really stand by the message.

“We’re not saying never shop online, or avoid the supermarkets, instead just make that small effort to shop local first where possible, and even just a fiver can make a difference.”

Dennis: We are proud to go the extra mile
Helen Dennis from Isle of Wool, who is also taking part in the campaign said,

“We are pleased we have so many loyal customers who shop with us before buying online, and in return we will always do our best to stock what our customers need.

“We are proud to go the extra mile to help which is why Ryde is such a good place to shop.”
