The Sabirian Fairtrade shop based on Newport High Street is closing down.

The initiative was set up local charity, Community Action Isle of Wight, with the shop opening in the summer of 2018.

If you haven’t already, check out this week what Sabirian have to offer, with up to 75 per cent off many shop items, as well as all furniture reduced to at least half price.

Aims of the initiative
The aims of the initiative were to provide training, work placement and employment opportunities to Islanders facing additional barriers to employment.

It was also there to generate profits for reinvestment in other community development work to help the Island.

A third benefit was that it provided a ‘trade not aid approach’, bringing benefit to small scale artisans and small scale producers in India.
