Roof damage at Aviation Museum

Eunice tried to peek inside Wight Aviation Museum and ripped off some of the roof

Storm Eunice caused serious damage at the Wight Aviation Museum (WAM) on Friday, ripping off a section of the roof leaving a gaping hole.

Further disaster was averted by the prompt action by two of the WAM Team who managed to protect the most exposed exhibits that day.

Today, Monday, a team of volunteers worked quickly to secure other exhibits and to lower our P51 “Mustang” model and store it safely away.

Great teamwork
WAM Chairperson, Helen Blake says,

“It’s times like these that our volunteer team work well together to save all the effort that has been put in to establishing the new and exciting Wight Aviation Museum over the last three years!”

Grand opening
We are now hoping that the roof can be repaired quickly and that we will be able to have a “grand opening” for the public in spring, early April.

Look out for Crowdfunding
We are planning a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the restoration of the damaged exhibits and will be publicising this soon on our Website and in our social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook.
