Nick explained,
“I thought it was time I did an image of Edinburgh, my home town, as I have made so many collages of other towns. I use hand painted paper, with gouache paint, then nail scissors to cut out.
“I know the topography of Edinburgh very well, and together with Google Earth I was able to reconstruct my ‘inner map’ of Edinburgh. It required a lot of research and patience, so Lockdown was a perfect vehicle for this purpose. All the people are Edinburgh folk or tourists I saw there.”
You can see Nick’s work the at Quay Arts Cafe Bar from 15th to 31st October before it travels to Edinburgh later this year.
Nick says,
“I wanted the Isle of Wight to see it first before it found its home Up North!”
