This from Hans Bromwich, Cowes. Ed
The super rich have done very well under Margret Thatcher and successive governments ever since. During the Covid-19 pandemic when most of us became 8% poorer, the top 5% became 8% richer.
Our country is full of absurdities
We have Prince William pontificating about homelessness, something he could solve in an instant if he chose to do so.
King Charles who sees nothing immoral about enrich himself with a huge increase in the Sovereign Grant, paid for by the taxpayer, despite many of his subjects having to choose between heating and eating.
It’s like we’re living back in the feudal Middle Ages.
Time to step up
The UK is struggling, isn’t it time for those who’ve had it away large for years and years at the expense of everyone else, billionaires and international corporations like Amazon, to step up, pay up, write off the UK’s debt, and put our economy back on a secure footing?
Embarking on austerity 2.0 to keep the money markets happy, simply isn’t the answer.
