Live Mental Health Records Used In Council Training

Live Mental Health Records Used In Council TrainingFurther to the story about Islander’s mental health records being readable by the council, there’s a recent worrying revelation.

Staff induction training to the Isle of Wight Social Services includes learning to use the SWIFT computer system (the one that holds the previously discussed medical records) – but it has been revealed by a former employee that those being trained on the system are given access to real, live data of patients.

It would seem obvious that a training system would have test records in there, not give access to people’s medial records, especially as it’s highly likely that the patients don’t even know that their records are viewable outside the hospital.

As the commenter says, “What happened to doctor/patient confidentiality?”

We would try and get the IW council’s side to this, but as we’ve said many times before, the ‘communication’ department have cut off VentnorBlog from the whole council.

They’ve refused to meet with VB and have the meeting recorded. What do Claire Robertson and her ‘communications’ team have to hide?

We can’t work it out, but the democratic process is all the weaker for it.
