Local Elections 09: Who Is Standing For Ventnor Town Council?

Local Elections 09: Who Is Standing For Ventnor Town CouncilYou’d have to have been living under a stone to not realise that this Thursday sees the local elections take place on the Isle of Wight.

Locally in Ventnor, there has been much confusion as to who is standing where, following the initial double dipping incident (when four councillors accepted nominations in more than one ward – more to come on that later).

We’ve been asked to lay out who is standing where, for the benefit of Ventnor readers, and start with those going for positions on the Town Council. These are unpaid roles, with all candidates given up their time freely for the benefit of the town.

As the St Lawrence ward was uncontested, Buster Bartlett and Doug Nettlestone have been automatically elected as Town Councillors there and we look forward to seeing them on the new Ventnor Town Council.

The other four wards are all contested, meaning more people are standing than places available.
