Look Out For Peter Andre-Inspired Door-to-door Scam

Ryde Inshore Rescue called VentnorBlog this morning with a warning.

Robber's maskSomeone has been going around, door to door on the Isle of Wight, asking for donations of £25 per month to the Ryde Inshore Rescue.

Michaela, who’s in charge of fund raising for the volunteer service, says they know nothing about this person saying that they’re collecting for them.

Someone living in Lake said that she’d been visited yesterday and the man pretending to be collecting said, “You’ve seen us on TV (the Peter Andre programme). Now’s your chance to help us out.”

Not Ryde Inshore Rescue
The people are then asked for their banks details, so £25 can be taken out monthly. “It’s not us and we know nothing about it. Don’t do it!” Michaela said to VB just now.

This isn’t to be confused with the legitimate Independent Lifeboat Lotto, who sign people up for £8.68/month, but have identity cards.

Spread the word!
Let’s get this message around to everyone on the Island as quickly as possible.
