If you frequent the Farmers’ Market in Newport, you might’ve spotted the soup kitchen a couple of weeks ago. Helen Staniford tells us more about why it was there. Ed
On Friday 11th March Love Russia organised a soup kitchen in the centre of Newport as part of a weekly Farmers’ market.
They offered free soup and information on Love Russia, a charity that goes into areas of severe poverty and works with a diverse range of those in need.
It was great to enjoy some wonderful homemade locally sourced soup on a ‘fresh’, but sunny Friday.
Donations received
We had an opportunity to meet supporters, as well as talking to others who stopped to have soup and a roll.
Donations amounted to £143 that will go towards the projects that Love Russia supports.
This was an event worth repeating so we hope to see you there again next year!
