Police were called to an incident in St Boniface Road, Ventnor just before midday.
An eye witness told OnTheWight they saw five police vehicles (four squad cars and a riot van) with officers sporting riot shields swoop on an address close to the tennis courts in Ventnor.
An officer was overheard saying, “You’re coming with us, you might as well make it easy.”
Officers were called to the scene at 11.54am and as a result a man has been detained on suspicion of public order, criminal damage, and drug offences.
“Usually such a quiet street”
“It was frightening for me and terrifying for my children” commented one concerned local resident. “This is usually such a quiet street – you wouldn’t expect a major police bust here”
