There’re reports of a man on top of buildings in Ryde in Union Street.
We understand that there were concerns that he had threatened to jump from the Blockbuster building.
The Fire services were called at about 8-ish this evening to assist Police if required. The new Skylift extendible ladder is there just in case they need access to the top of the buildings.
Union Street has been closed to traffic.
Obviously we, and we’re sure everyone else, hopes that this is resolved without incident. Surely nothing can be worth taking that action.

Update 10:50 Nigel Walsh tells VB that Union Street reopened at just after 10pm. The Fire Brigade have just told us that they’ve now stood down, so it appears that its ended without incident.
