Beaulieu Respite raises £5,500 at Isle of Wight Festival fundraiser

Beaulieu Respite, the Isle of Wight charity for the Island’s Children’s Home and overnight respite centre for those with disabilities, enjoyed a highly successful IW Festival fundraiser – raising a whopping £5,500.

The charity’s stand with a vibrant bee-themed display and a team of enthusiastic volunteers became a popular attraction throughout the event, featuring colourful bee costumes, bee themed merchandise, mascots and the ever popular “Gorilla with a caged man” attraction, roaming the entire festival grounds. The gorilla fundraises by taking donations from the public for them to have a photo with him.

Where the money goes
Visitors were able to learn more about the vital work of Beaulieu House and where their donations go – including trips to Legoland and Paulton’s Park plus parties, toys, playground equipment, sensory rooms and specialist equipment.

The charity’s distinctive black-and-yellow bee theme symbolised community, teamwork and care – values that are at the heart of Beaulieu Respite’s mission.

Wake: “Overwhelmed by the support”
Tony Wake, Chairman of the charity said,

“We were overwhelmed by the support shown by everyone who visited our stand. The generosity of the local community helps us continue providing essential respite care and support to children and families who rely on our services.

“Our volunteers worked incredibly hard to make the event a success, and we are grateful to everyone who stopped by, donated, purchased merchandise or simply took the time to learn more about our work.

“Our heartfelt thanks must once again go to Caroline and John Giddings and their fabulous crew at The Isle of Wight Festival for allowing us to attend our major fundraiser of the year”

Run by volunteers
Len Payne, Treasurer said,

“We had a fantastic weekend and being run solely by volunteers means virtually every penny raised, goes directly towards making our little one’s lives that bit nicer.”

Catherine Kidd, Trustee and organiser for Beaulieu Respite said:

“The charity would like to extend its sincere thanks to all volunteers, supporter and visitors who contributed to the success of the weekend.”
