Medina Bookshop hosts captivating cronehood celebration with new book launch

Medina Bookshop, Cowes was transformed into a cronedom of creativity at The Triple Crones book launch and performance on Tuesday evening.

Presented by Jean G-Owen of Naked Figleaf Press, the event was a unique gathering of inspiring women, celebrating the collective power of Cronehood through poetry, storytelling, songs and music.

The Triple Crones
Ajeana, Crone of Rural Spaces (Jean G-Owen), Cass, Crone of the Sea (Sandy Kealty), and Flamenco, Crone of Rural Spaces (Cheryl May), recited selections for their enchanting new book, The Triple Crones: poetry, performance and pictures, captivating the audience with lyrical, wise and witty reflections from women who refuse to be defined by stereotypical attitudes to ageing.

Their words carried an ageless quality that struck a chord with the packed audience. After all, these three Crones won’t reveal their ages.

Guest performers
Adding further magic to the evening, Holly Medland Storyteller wove medieval tales with deft confidence, transporting listeners to eras of knights, maidens and myth. Her tales, rich with imagery and nuance, complemented the book’s themes beautifully.

The music, performed by Tina Goode, provided the evening’s emotional heartbeat. Tina’s rendition of Savage Daughter and her original song Maiden, Mother, Crone, seemed to resonate with the essence of the Triple Crones’ spirit and sensitivity.

A sell-out event
The event was a sell-out, and Medina Bookshop buzzed with “hagitude”, thanks to the heart-warming audience. Special thanks go to Paul Armfield for hosting and curating a space where creativity and connection could flourish.

The Triple Crones is more than a book—it’s a vibrant celebration of the power of storytelling, wisdom and wit by women who embrace life at every stage. It is also a testament to friendship. The pages bristle with poems, stories, and coloured images. There are also links to Triple Crone performances.
