Military Road Recommendation Voted Through By Cabinet

Last updated:

Cabinet members tonight ignored calls from Jill Wareham to realign the Military Road further inland at a cost of £8,000,000 and instead voted on the temporary measure of redirecting underground water away from the road.

Cllr Welsford questioned whether officers had considered bonds in order to fund the realignment programme, but chief finance officer Dave Burbage said that although in the past other councils had taken advantage of this repayment, it would be a problem for the council, repayments would be in the region of £500,000 pa.
