Despite what the Island Roads website states, Ventnor residents can breathe easy, Newport Road will not be closing for two weeks from next Wednesday.
You’d be mistaken for thinking that one of the only major remaining routes in and out of the town was being closed, because that’s what is stated on the Island Roads website – something that has resulted in some confusion for Ventnor residents and businesses.
News OnTheWight is still waiting for the official word from Island Roads, but Richard Tyldsley of Southern Vectis told us he’d been informed the road is not being closed next week.
Future date
Obviously the work will need to take place at some point in the near future, but for the moment, unless there is an emergency such as a burst water main or broken sewage pipe, road access between Ventnor and Lowtherville will remain open.
