Monkton Arts launch a brand new Arts Prize competition

News shared by Jenna Sabine, owner of Monkton Arts, Ryde town councillor and Deputy Mayor of Ryde. Ed

Monkton Arts is launching an Arts Prize competition this summer. With both adult and children’s categories, the competition has attracted some generous sponsors.

For many years, the Isle of Wight has been an inspiring place for artists to settle, and we hope to attract their interest and make the Monkton Arts Prize a prestigious event in the Island’s arts calendar.

As far as we know it is the only open submission arts prize exclusive to Island residents with no theme or focus other than art.

Generous sponsors
Indigo Graphics, Rapanui and Bearsalls’ Arty Card Company, and a collective of generous local donors make up the prizes with a top prize of £1,000, along with a professional exhibition in the Acons Gallery at Monkton Arts.

Ryde School are generously offering art materials for the children’s prizes with cards produced by the Arty Card Company for the children to become commercial artists.

How to enter
Entrants are to submit a photo of their work online. A shortlist of 50 will be on display at Monkton Arts from 10th to 21st August and the awards ceremony will take place on the evening of 21st August.

Judges include talented artists Jeff Dyson and the three resident artists at Monkton Arts, Sandy Kendall, Mandy Bangerter and Karl Stedman.

To enter please visit Monkton Arts Website.

An adult entrant ticket is £10, and £3 for children. Good Luck!
