In just two weeks time, over 40 Islanders will be doing their bit to help raise money and awareness for the Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat station.
A sponsored cyclethon has been organised and will see teams of four spin against each other on the 26 exercise bikes at TJ’s Gym in Lake.
There are currently three Lifeboat teams (with one wearing full kit), the Police have a team of four, also cycling in uniform. The Rapanui boys have a team and there are three teams from TJ’s gym.
Room for more
So far we understand that 41 riders have signed up to the challenge, but there is room for more.

The aim is to raise £150,000 to extend the lifeboat station at Sandown. The crew have been in the building for 40 years and have “seriously outgrown it”.
Extension will reduce launch times
Building an extension will reduce launch times by approximately five minutes which is vital in a life threatening call out.
Organisers are looking for companies or individuals who’d like to sponsor or donate to this appeal.
Lots of prizes in raffle
There will also be a raffle on the day (19th November between 2pm – 4pm) which has some great prizes such as;
