Isle of Wight NHS Trust student nurse, Jade Wareham has reached the final in two categories for the 2023 Student Nursing Times Awards.
Jade has been shortlisted for the Student Innovation in Practice award and was nominated by Carrie Biddle, regional head of allied health professionals for Health Education England in the Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion.
On finding out the news of her nominations Jade said,
“I was shocked and overwhelmed to hear that I had been shortlisted for the 2023 Student Nursing Times Awards.”
Wareham: I am excited to see where my continued journey leads me
After only recently being diagnosed with dyslexia, at the beginning of her nursing qualification studies, Jade is now in her final year of her studying.
She will finish her course in September this year on the Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship programme and hopes to qualify in October later this year.
“I feel incredibly proud to be advocating for current and future students whilst building better working environments for NHS staff. Having this reflected within the award categories means everything to me.
“Being shortlisted shows recognition within the prevalence of neurodiversity and I am excited to see where my continued journey leads me.”
Pearce: This truly is a wonderful achievement
Isle of Wight NHS Trust Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals, Juliet Pearce, said,
“I am so proud that Jade has been recognised by the Student Nursing Times judging panel, this truly is a wonderful achievement.
“Jade has worked incredibly hard to raise the profile of neurodiversity in the workplace and she is an absolute credit to our Trust and the nursing family. Well done and we will keep everything crossed for you on the big day.”
The Student Nursing Times Award finalists will find out if they win in their categories at the awards ceremony on Friday 28th April at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel.
