Carisbrooke on the Isle of Wight is being patrolled by a new police officer who is dedicated to having an active presence on her beat.
Police Constable Tracy Sainsbury has joined the Newport Safer Neighbourhoods team, working alongside Jo Vincent-White, who is one of the Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) for the Carisbrooke area.
PC Sainsbury joined Hampshire Constabulary in June 2008 and spent her first two years on a Targeted Patrol Team (TPT) shift, which responded to 999 emergency calls on the east of the island from Shanklin Police Station.
Keeping it in the family
Sainsbury said: “It seems life in the emergency services is a family affair as I’m married to a current serving whole-time Isle of Wight firefighter with 30 years’ experience, and I also have a daughter, Fern Wherry, who is a PCSO working from Yarmouth Police Station.
“My role is to help make sure residents feel safe and confident about where they live by responding to their policing priorities. The community has opportunities every month to influence the actions of the local Safer Neighbourhoods team. Residents can see me on regular patrols and during council meetings.
“I’m looking forward to making a difference as I see the Carisbrooke beat offering a diverse range of challenges. We will not tolerate anyone who is willing to undermine the quality of life in this community.”
