Bob shares details of this concert that recently took place in Binstead. Ed
Members of the Newchurch Male Voice Choir were the first in line at the refreshments table of Home Made Cakes and drinks after presenting a Sunday Afternoon Concert in Holy Cross Church, Binstead.
The concert was in support of the Church funds and the audience heard a selection of tunes that showed the versatility of the harmonies of a Male Voice Choir. These tunes ranged from show songs such as Anthem from Chess, through to New York, New York and West Side Story, Sweet Caroline concluding with Let there be Peace on Earth and Morte Cristie.
We were also treated to Richard Knowles singing ‘Old Man River’ and then he was joined by Alan Finch and they stunned us with their offering of ‘The Music of the Night’ from Phantom of the Opera.
Raised £350+ for the church
The afternoon, with the raffle, raised over £350 for the Church.
Bob Cooper, Vice Chair of the Choir said,
“It was nearly 20 years since the Choir sang in Holy Cross, and we still have a couple of members who performed then.
“We enjoyed the afternoon and the reception of the audience, who then wanted more, which really shows how singing relaxes people and brings happiness.
“Thank you to the Holy Cross members for the splendid refreshments. It certainly rounded off a lovely event.”
