Thanks to Barry for sharing details of the Newchurch Male Voice Choir’s upcoming tour. Ed
On Thursday 1st November the Newchurch Male Voice Choir will set off for the Park Hotel, Tenby, South Wales, to commence a four-day tour singing with two Welsh male choirs both formed over 100 years ago.
Both these choirs have featured in recent National Eisteddfords with the Whitland winning a class and Haverfordwest second in another.
As a tribute to Wales and our hosts, Newchurch Male Voice Choir has learnt the well known welsh song Gwahoddiad in welsh and performed it live, for the first time, at our recent St. Saviours Shanklin concert with the Tamar MVC.
Singing with Whitland
On Friday 2nd November Newchurch will meet up with the Whitland MVC (near St Clears) for an evening concert in the Town Hall.
Whitland choir was formed in 1890.
Teaming up with Haverfordwest choir
Then, on the Saturday evening NMVC teams up with the Haverfordwest choir (1896) for a concert in St Mary’s church. On Sunday, our departure day, the Choir has a 12noon concert in the Biome of the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Llanarthne, near Carmarthen.
During our trip to Wales the Choir will be visiting St David’s Cathedral and Carmarthen Castle.
Roy Bevan, Musical Director and Jenny Riddell, Accompanist will be heading up a coach party of 54 people, of which 28 are singing members.
