The BBC are reporting news from Southern Water today that should put the minds of active Isle of Wight gardeners at rest.
Apparently Southern Water are reporting that with their four above-ground reservoirs almost 100% full, it’s unlikely that residents in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will have to endure a hosepipe ban this summer.
Water planning and strategy manager, Meyrick Gough, told the BBC “The reservoir levels in our region are in a good position for this time of year. We do not anticipate the need for a hosepipe ban, as long as we continue to use water wisely and not waste it.”
As always, it’s important to conserve as much water as possible rather than wasting it, but good to know that our gardens and veggie patches won’t have to suffer this summer.
