The auction came to an end on Friday evening and Michaela got in touch over the weekend to let us know that a massive £6,272 was raised.
Well done to everyone who took part and helped make this the best online auction for the Sophie Rolf Fund yet.
Future plans
You’d think after all the work put into last week’s auction that Michaela would be thinking of taking a rest, instead it’s inspired her to do more.
After the auction had closed, she posted the following update on future plans for online auctions.
“I have been pondering over the weekend and talking to various people and I’ve decided that one auction is not enough for what funds need to be raised to keep children’s services on the Island.
“So I’ve decided I’m going to set up a separate group for Charity fundraisers for throughout 2014. These will benefit two charities.
“One will be the EMH Children’s services section… Basically the Kissypuppy fund and the other will be the YMCA Bereavement service on the Island as I feel that it is just as important. They currently have funding until the end of 2014 as their initial start up funding will be finished and if they can’t raise the funds they can’t continue.
“Children and young people are affected by loss and grief and it is the service’s role to listen, reassure, give advice, and ultimately help individuals to grieve in a healthy way. Those accessing support are not charged and can access as many counselling sessions as they need. They offer training to child-based professionals to improve awareness of the varied effects that bereavement has on young lives whilst we help shape bereavement policies and procedures.
“My vision is that families are supported as a whole and therefore both the services above are crucial in such a situation.
