If you’re looking for recommendations for Open Studio events in the Newport area, do make sure that you check out David Knight and Mike Forrest (check out these beautiful swans produced in vitreous enamel) at the A J Wells showroom.
We went along to a private view there last night and were really impressed by the new pieces created for the exhibition. Stunning work, as always, from two very talented Island artists.
Other artists that can be found on the Newport Artists Trail are Melanie and Martin Swan
Martin Swan RSMA will be showing a variety of work, from marine paintings and landscapes to some of his more abstract work, all in watercolours and oils.
Melanie Swan specialises in traditional iconography using felt, gilding and other media (pictured left). Their studio will be open on Saturday between 1-5pm and Sunday between 10am-12 and 1-5pm. Find them at 124 Carisbrooke Road, Newport
Lastly, do pop in and see Karen Brown from Leaping Hare Designs at Medina Cottage, 74 Medina Avenue. She is one of the artists currently showing at The Studio Cafe and specialises in producing silkscreen images from original SLR photographs that she has been taking for the last 25 years.
