About 30 to 40 people took part in the Isle of Wight Paddle Out on Saturday protesting against sewage polluting our rivers and seas.
Organised by Chani Courtney, the Isle of Wight representative for Surfers Against Sewage, along with Al Chisholm, the event aimed to raise awareness of the critical issue of sewage discharges into the UK’s waterways.
At the event Chani asked people to do three things:
- Download SAS ssrs app Sewage pollution alerts – Surfers Against Sewage (sas.org.uk)
- To report pollution to 0800 807060 or damage to Southern Water equipment to 0330 303 368
- To remove impermeable areas on their land.

The national Surfers Against Sewage organisation reported that 1000s turned out across the UK protesting in their areas. They also ask residents to take action via email. They said,
“The regulator for England and Wales, Ofwat, is about to sign-off on water companies’ spending plans, and the governments of Scotland and Northern Ireland need to get their house in order, quick.
“So, please take two minutes and help voice our vital demands for sewage-free water.”
