Apparently Southampton Football Club has banned any press photographers from regional or national papers taking shots at their matches, saying that the papers should instead buy their photos from their single, approved agency instead.
This weekend, Southampton were playing Plymouth and the editor of the Plymouth Herald, Bill Martin, wasn’t too happy about this situation, so returned to old methods of visually telling a story to get around the problem.
His solution – to get a cartoonist, city historian and Herald-contributor Chris Robinson, to knock up some sketches of the high points of the match – and very good they look too.
Head over to the paper to have a look at the full-sized pictures in the Plymouth Herald article.
